It sparked a memory of when I was sixteen, hitchhiking across the marshes of South Carolina, when a car stopped, the driver rolled down his window and asked. "Tired of walking?" Before I could express my gratitude, reaching for the door handle, he yelled "Try running." then drove off in a flurry of laughter.
