A terrific recollection, Rick, of that early slice through life. It's amazing, brightly so, how these experiences helped define us. The 'hands-on' bullying of our days in the early/mid fifties have been replaced today with a different kind of more cowardly bullying using the stick of social media, leaving a different and sometimes irreparable scar.

Wow. I try to imagine my own grandsons experiencing something like that and I can't bear even imagining it. Stunning. They both attend a school where the guiding principle (principal, too. Pun intended) is Unconditional Love. No punishment. Just "let's figure out why that 'bad' thing happened and how we can better deal with it next time." Wow.
