Wow! What a pleasure to read Julie’s writing about Chetzemoka’s Curse! Especially about that final scene. My memory has never been the most reliable part of my mind, but recalling our once-in-a-lifetime experiences being in your movies is a glowing exception.
That finalè of Chetzemoka’s Curse, done on such strategic short notice, with Jessica and Sue trying to understand my betrayal, is still heartbreaking, whether remembered or watched again. Watching myself inventing explanations for what I’ve done is still humbling, if not humiliating.
The Lighthouse Cafe, where a funny scene with Sue, Jessica, Otis, and me was shot, has re-opened with new owners in the last couple of years. I enjoy meeting friends there and sitting at the table in the same spot as the movie scene. (And I enjoy telling everyone within earshot about being in a movie scene there.)
I’ll never tire of saying how being in a few of these movies you've made has been a lifetime highlight and a wonderful reminder of how art is so craved by the Soul.
Thanks Steve again for your incredible roll-playing/improv in this one (plus Sue and Jessica’s terrific on-the-spot, so-real performances & real-life stories (when not having any idea what was coming!). The whole movie is a miracle to me(!) and I couldn’t help watching it once again here on Substack. An unforgettable experience and an amazingly good movie. THANK YOU!!
